You'd make a wonderful big brother...
We’re always looking for people eager to positively impact a child and improve their community at the same time. And, right now is no different. Big Brothers are in high demand. So, Start Something!
For a few hours, a couple times a month, you can give a Little the invaluable gift of your friendship. By simply changing their perspective of what the world can offer, you can literally start changing their lives. And sometimes it’s as simple as playing video games, going to a museum, or just hanging out together.
How you can impact a child:
By becoming a Big in our School-Based Mentoring Program, you will meet with a child at his school once per week. You will need to be at least 18 years of age and commit to volunteering for an academic year and keeping in touch with your Little
during the summer.
Bigs in our Community-Based Mentoring Program will meet with their Littles a few hours several times per month in the community. To volunteer in our community-based program, you need to be at least 21 years of age, have lived in St. Johns County for at least one year, and committ to volunteering for at least 12 months.

Why do we need Big Brothers?: More than 70% of our children waiting for a Big are boys, but only 3 out of every 10 inquiries to volunteer come from men. Research shows that having the positive influence of a Big Brother makes a real difference in a boy's life. So join the hundreds of thousands of volunteers that give a young person someone to look up to. And learn why so many are now saying, “I get back so much more than I give.”
A call to men of color: Disproportionately the children we serve and those waiting to be matched are African-American and Hispanic boys. Their parents seek our support, knowing a Big Brother can recognize their son's potential and model positive choices that put him on the path for success in and out of school.
Know someone who’d be a great Big Brother?: At Big Brothers Big Sisters, we’re always looking for more men to be mentors. Fact is, we have boys ready and waiting to be matched with a role model. So tell the guys you know to sign up to become Bigs! They can do all the fun things they love to do already, like play video games, go fishing, even play football—only now they'd get to enjoy it with a child who can truly benefit from it.
Ready to be a Big Brother? Just fill out our simple Volunteer Inquiry Form. After you complete it, a Big Brothers Big Sisters staff member will contact you shortly.
