COULD YOUR LITTLE ONE USE A BIG?
We have two primary mentoring programs in St. Johns County; Community-based and Site-based. In each program a mentor, or “Big”, is matched with a child, or “Little”, to form a one-on-one mentoring relationship for a minimum of one year.
Children who are eligible for these programs are ages 6-12. They must be interested in participating and be in need of one-to-one mentoring. Sometimes our Littles might be experiencing difficulties at home, struggling in school, or just need another person to talk to. Each mentoring program provides the child with conversations and shared activities that develop a relationship enabling them to overcome the every-day challenges that are part of growing up. During one-on-one mentoring children gain new skills, explore new interests, and develop positive behaviors that help expand their experience base beyond their family or neighborhood.
At Big Brothers Big Sisters we strive to develop positive relationships and essential connections that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people in our community. Your first steps in enrolling your child is to choose which program you are interested in applying for and then fill out our Enroll a Child application. You will be directed to the BBBS National Page where you will put your zip code in the box to the right labeled "Take the First Step to Defend Potential".
Once we receive your application we will contact you to set up your initial enrollment appointment
*These appointments are conducted in person, please note we are following all CDC guidelines including wearing PPE and social distancing in order to ensure your safety during this process.
